In a heartfelt post shared on social media, Deepika Padukone recently reflected on her journey with Bollywood’s beloved superstar Shah Rukh Khan, as they reunited for their sixth collaboration together for King. The actress, who has built a successful career over nearly two decades, shared a personal lesson that the King of Bollywood imparted to her nearly 18 years ago, during the filming of their iconic movie Om Shanti Om.
In a photo posted on her social media, Deepika is seen holding hands with Shah Rukh Khan, her co-star in the film. The caption accompanying the photo reads, “The very first lesson he taught me almost 18 years ago while filming Om Shanti Om was that the experience of making a movie, and the people you make it with, matter far more than its success. I couldn’t agree more and have applied that learning to every decision I’ve made since. And that’s probably why we’re back making our 6th movie together? #king #day1”.
Padukone’s return to the sets of King comes after Vyjayanthi Movies announced her exit from Kalki 2898 AD. The production house stated that they decided to part ways with Padukone after “careful consideration,” adding that a film like Kalki deserves a higher level of “commitment.” Padukone starred in the first part alongside Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan.
Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan had previously shared the screen in Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express, Happy New Year, Pathaan and Jawan. Their next collaboration, King, will be their sixth. After the phenomenal success of Pathaan, Shah Rukh and Siddharth Anand are back together again in this project.
The upcoming film is directed by Siddharth Anand. It also features SRK’s daughter Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Anil Kapoor, and Abhay Verma, promising a high-octane drama with an ensemble cast.
