Son of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2 1st day box office collection: The much-anticipated Bollywood sequels Son of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2 finally hit theatres on August 1, 2025. While both films arrived with their own brand value and star power, their opening day collections painted a starkly different picture at the box office.
Starring Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur, Son of Sardaar 2 takes a slow start and collected Rs 7.50 crore on Day 1. Despite being a sequel to a well-known 2012 film, the movie couldn’t break into double-digit numbers, signaling a cautious response from audiences.
Trade analysts had higher expectations considering Ajay Devgn’s fan base and the film’s wider screen count. However, early reviews and word-of-mouth seem to have played a role in tempering footfalls, especially in urban multiplexes.
Meanwhile, Dhadak 2, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, had a significantly more muted opening. The romantic drama managed to earn only around Rs 3.65 crore on its first day, with limited occupancy and a smaller screen count.
Unlike its 2018 predecessor, which marked the debut of Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter and opened Rs 8.71 crore, Dhadak 2 failed to capture similar audience interest, possibly due to minimal pre-release buzz and lower star draw.
