The much-awaited sequel to the 2012 hit Son of Sardaar was earlier scheduled to release on July 25, but the makers have now postponed it by a week. While the reason behind the date shift hasn’t been officially stated, industry insiders suggest it might be a strategic move to avoid clashes at the box office and ensure maximum reach for the film.

On July 19, 2025, makers took their Instagram handle and wrote, “Jassi Paaji and toli will see you in cinemas worldwide on 1st August 2025.”
A source told Bollywood Hungama the reason behind this move, “Yash Raj Films’ Saiyaara has taken a surprise gigantic opening on the day of its release, July 18. The reports of the film are extremely positive, and hence, it will do better on Saturday than Friday. Meanwhile, Sunday will be huge and it’ll also stay strong in the weekdays and the second week as well. In such a scenario, having a big film like Son Of Sardaar 2 just a week later will not be good for the business for both films. Hence, Ajay Devgn, Jio Studios and others took the decision of moving a week ahead with their film’s release.”
The sequel picks up with Jassi on a thrilling new adventure set against the scenic backdrop of Scotland. Ajay Devgn returns in the lead, with Mrunal Thakur reportedly playing his love interest. The ensemble cast also features Kubbra Sait, Deepak Dobriyal, and Nav Ghotra in pivotal roles.
The film ‘Son of Sardaar 2‘ is directed by Vijay Kumar Arora and written by Mohit Jain and Jagdeep Sidhu. Produced by Ajay Devgn, Jyoti Deshpande, NR Pachisia, and Pravin Talreja under the banners of Devgn Films and JioStudios.
