One of the very popular superstars in South India, Thala Ajith’s 57th offering Vivegam was released last Thursday with huge excitement of his fans. As expected, Siva’s directorial got favorable response from audience and reported excellent start on box office. From critics, it has not received much positive reviews but most of them are in its favor.
Year’s one of the most anticipated Tamil movies, Vivegam had witnessed overall good response of audience through out in the opening week. The movie started its journey with phenomenal occupancy on around 800 screens across Tamil Nadu and did the business of 17.20 crores. On the second day, unfortunately it faced abrupt drop and collected the amount of 10 crores.
Then on Saturday due to weekend time, Vivegam showed some jump and registered the business of 11 crores. On the last day of weekend i.e. Sunday, it remained almost steady due to holiday and minted the amount of 11.50 crores. After the weekend, total collection of this romantic action was recorded as 49.70 crores at TN box office. Now it is running in weekdays and asusual witnessing lesser occupancy in theaters due to normal working days.
On Monday the movie faced almost 35% of drop and collected the amount of 6.50 crores. With further declination, Vivegam 5.50 crore on the next day i.e. Tuesday. On the next day i.e. Wednesday, Vivegam faced more dip and added the amount of 4.50 crores to it’s account. This has made its 7 days total collection as 65.95 crores from Tamil Nadu screens.
Movie shows may have resumed but there is still no clarity on new taxes, as a result of which the producer-distributor revenue ratio for movies remains undecided. Meanwhile ticket rates have been arbitrarily hiked by theatre owners since there is no clarity from the government on whether the caps will stay despite increased taxes.
