Box Office: First Day Collection of Vismayam

Superstar Mohanlal’s Malayalam family entertainer “Vismayam” (“Manamantha” in Telugu and “Namadhu” in Tamil) was released on Friday, August 5 all over India. National film award-winning filmmaker Chandra Shekhar Yeleti has helmed the movie, which also stars Gauthami, Viswant, Raina Rao, Anisha Ambrose in lead roles. Mohanlal plays a middle-class man, who works as an assistant manager in a supermarket. The movie, which is the debut Telugu project of the superstar, marks his reunion with “His Highness Abdulla” heroine Gauthami after 26 years.


It is the first release of Mohanlal in 2016 and he has dubbed for his character in all the three versions of the film. This is the first time three movies of the superstar are hitting the theatres on the same day in his acting career spanning 36 years. In a recent video posted on his Facebook page, Mohanlal has requested his fans to watch the family entertainer, which narrates the story of four different people. Vismayam has faced high advanced booking on hilarious note and the ticket fee is also quote good for the movie.

This shows that audience is anyhow excited to watch the movie buying tickets for any cost. Vismayam on its opening day has collected a total amount of around 1.75 crores* (67.80 Lakhs Malayalam) including two versions Tamil & Telugu. According to audience response, the opening day has emerged as one of the greatest in the history of Malayalam cinema and also as a good entertainer of this year and might get listed in top movies of the year 2016.

As it is good budget and well picturized, it is expected to run for a fair long time on box office and earn much more in the coming days of the weekend. “Vismayam” also has Urvashi, Nassar, Vennela Kishore, Dhanraj, Parachuri Venkateswara Rao, Gollapudi Maruthi Rao, Praveen, Naveen Neni, Ayyapa, Harshavardhan and P Sharma in key roles. It is being produced by Sai Korrapati under his production banner Varahi Chalana Chitram.
