First Day Collection of Veera Sivaji Movie

Actor Vikram Prabhu badly needs a hit after giving back-to-back box office flops. In order to achieve that, the filmmakers have played very safely in making his latest film Veera Sivaji, which is deeply formulaic. Vikram plays an ideal hero, with a heart of gold, nerves of steel and brains to spare. The problem is, this film may have worked 10 yeas ago, but today it doesn’t even have a shot at success. Shamili has made a comeback in Kollywood as a heroine with this film. She is looking beautiful, but she plays a forgettable role.

Hopefully, her next film will give her enough space to prove her talent, which she showcased as a child actor. The comic characters of Robo Shankar and Yogi Babu are inspired by Suresh and Ramesh ad commercial. They are the only means of making this film entertaining. To be fair to Vikram and Ganesh, formulaic films have helped most of the top stars of today in Tamil industry. However, if he pays close attention to the performances of his previous films like Idhu Enna Maayam, Vikram would understand that audience finds it difficult to accept him as a ‘mass hero’.

Vikram should reassess his strength and weakness as an actor and do films accordingly. The trailer of ‘Veera Sivaji’ created curiosity amongst fans. People just couldn’t wait for the film to release and it was mainly due to Sivakarthikeyan’s role as a female nurse. ‘Veera Sivaji’ has turned out to be a watchable comedy. All the reviews from critics are positive. Even Vikram  and Shamili’s chemistry has been appreciated by fans and critics.

On its opening day, Veera Sivaji has recorded the overall occupancy of 40-55% on Indian box office. The film has got terrific response on single screens and average on multiplexes. Evening shows have also witnessed slight increment in the occupancy. On Friday, it has raked the business of total 5.20 crores* from Tamil Nadu Box Office and expected to get higher in coming days.
