Vedalam / Vedhalam 11th Day Collection – Total 11 Days Box Office Business Report

Vedalam 11 Days Total Box Office Collection

Ajith Kumar’s recent release Vedalam has turned out to be Tamil cinema’s biggest hit of 2015. The film holds the record of highest opening day collection taking down Vijay-starrer Kaththi. Vedalam poured in about Rs 15.3 crore on its opening day and took over the-biggest-opener tag from Vijay’s Kaththi, which earned about Rs 14.3 crores on its first day. Also, It is now said that Vedalam has already touched Rs 100 crore mark. Rahul Dev, who played the villain in the film, took to Twitter to share the news with the fans. The Chennai rains haven’t hurt the revenue of Vedalam, and since rains have subsided the film is expected to do well in coming days. If the speculations turn out to be true, then Vedalam will become the fastest film to touch 100-crore-mark in Tamil film industry. Directed by Siruthai Siva, the film also stars Shruti Haasan, Laxmi Menon, Kabir Dulhan Singh, Soori and Thambi Ramaiah in pivotal roles. Produced by AM Rathnam, the film has music by Anirudh Ravichander. “Vedalam” to slow down due to mixed reviews by the critics. But the reviews seem like had little impact on the audience as it continued to pull the audience throughout the first weekend. In the opening weekend, it minted Rs 78.15 crore worldwide.

In the next three days, “Vedalam” crossed the 100-crore mark. Now, by the end of its first week (11 days), the collection has crossed above Rs 106 crore. The official report on the first week collection is awaited. The success of “Vedalam” has stunned the industry as people have continued to watch despite Chennai and a few other districts heavily hit by the unprecedented rain. This has clearly shown again that Ajith has a good market and commends good fan following. The response for “Vedalam” has been good in neighbouring states like Karnataka and Kerala from where the film has earned about Rs 10 crore. In the overseas centres, the film is doing well in Malaysia, UK and a few other regions. But in the US, Kamal Haasan’s “Thoongavanam” has overpowered the Ajith starrer. “Vedalam” is expected to do well for a few more weeks due to the good word-of-mouth from the audience. More importantly, we have to wait and see whether the movie sets a benchmark at Tamil Nadu box office. So far, it has earned above Rs 60 crore and it has to be seen whether it would collect Rs 100 crore alone in the state.
