Udta Punjab Fifth Day Box Office Collection
Abhishek Chaubey’s directorial crime thriller ‘Udta Punjab’ has passed its opening weekend with an excellent performance. The movie has been released this Friday on around 2000 screens in India with good buzz among audience, which it gained due to censor board controversy. Despite being leaked on internet before the release, it has received amazing response in theaters and raked impressive business total first first 3 days across the country.
After a good weekend that brought in 33.8 crore, Udta Punjab held on well on Monday by bringing in approx 4.50 cr. Considering the fact that Friday was very good at 10.05 crore, the numbers coming in on Monday are fine. In fact if one removes the controversy factor that had helped the film on its opening day, Friday looks even better. As a result, the Abhishek Chaubey directed film has managed to rake in around 38.30 crore in four days flat. From this point on, the film is on its own as the controversy element has settled down and the word of mouth is coming into play.
On the next day i.e. Tuesday with slight drop it added the amount of 4.05 cr* to its account. After 5 days, total collection of Udta Punjab is recorded as 42.35 cr*. It seems, the movie will easily touch the mark of 50 cr in this week on domestic box office. Udta Punjab deals with the problem of drug addiction in the youth of state Punjab. Audience liked the content and especially the acting of lead stars Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Diljit Dosanjh and Kareena Kapoor Khan. They all are being praised by everyone for giving such brilliant performances. It has also received very positive reviews from critics, which attracts more audience toward theaters.
The film needs to maintain a healthy run rate though for rest of the week and bring in 4 crore at least every day so that it gets into the second week with a good number of shows. While Delhi NCR and Punjab would have the film in good strength in the second week as well (though Diljit Dosanjh’s Sardaarji 2 is arriving as well), rest of the country would be impacted (in case the film falls during the weekdays) since as many as six Hindi releases and one major Hollywood film are also releasing.
