Udta Punjab Second Day Box Office Collection
After its long tussle with the censor board, “Udta Punjab” opened at the theatres on Friday to a lukewarm response, especially in single-screen cinema halls. But the controversial film appears to have left an impression on the minds of moviegoers. The initial response of the film, which addresses the issue of drug menace in Punjab, left the distributors disappointed on Day One, despite the controversy. The film has done relatively well in multi-plexes. Udta Punjab is looking at a solid day one with collections with around 10.05 crore nett as per early estimates. The number is a big one for a dark film which is off beat. The film, starring Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh, got a wide release in around 2,000 screens.
The film has been helped by huge collections in Delhi city and East Punjab with a contribution of around 4 crore nett from both. The other markets have seen lower business but still its still pretty decent and better than most films released this year. The business is dominated by multiplexes especially the high collecting ones. The controversy has helped but not a lot outside North India. Udta Punjab has got a good day one number and now it will be about holding these numbers as the initial is the type which these sort of films don’t get. If Delhi city and East Punjab hold tomorrow at these high levels the film will be through.
As per the report movie’s second day (Saturday’s) collection is approx. 8.30 Crores. As it is main weekend time so the chances are full high for this flick to grab the lead on box office. It has received very positive reviews from most of the critics, because of strong content and performances it has got overall 4 stars rating. All the censor board controversies it faced earlier, is resulting out in favor of it on box office.
Movies with such stories based on reality of society always get favorable reviews and Udta Punjab is witnessing the same. This time not only critics and celebrities but some audience were also there to spread positive buzz about the movie before its actual release. Earlier trade analysts were looking confused with the performance of this crime thriller at last it has come out with good.
