This is really not so easy to digest, that superstar Salman Khan starrer latest war drama Tubelight is not getting much response at box office. Before its release, Tubelight was declared as the upcoming blockbuster of 2017 but the outcome has shocked everyone.
But Due to mixed reviews from critics, Tubelight crashed down too early at box office, which is very disappointing for Salman fans. Earlier it was expected to break his previous records, but Kabir Khan’s directorial this war drama now doesn’t even seem to cross the mark of 150 crore at domestic box office.
The movie raked the business of total 106.86 cr on 4350 screens across India, including 64.77 crores of weekend and 42.09 crores of weekdays. In overseas, it has been released on 1200 screens and minted the total collection of 39 cr in a week. Now it is running in the second week and being the only strong option on box office from Bollywood, it was expected to show decent growth in this weekend.
On Friday, it witnessed an average response and did the business of 2.15 crores. On the next day, being Saturday it received little jump and added the amount of 2.84 crores to its account. After 9 days, total domestic collection of Tubelight is recorded as 111.85 crores. And though trade gurus have been hopeful that the film will see a rise in its weekend numbers.
The possibilities of 150 crores are extremely diluted and much rightly so if we look at the films lined up in July – Mom, Jagga Jasoos to name a few, since content wise there is much dispute over the film as well. Tubelight also features Sohail Khan, late Om Puri, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Yashpal Sharma, Shah Rukh Khan and Chinese actress Zhu Zhu.
