Tubelight Box Office collections have failed to live up to expectations. The film was expected to be one of the highest Bollywood grossers of all time, but it turned out to be a huge disappointment. The movie, in fact, started witnessing a drop after Eid, contradicting the predictions by trade pundits. Tubelight marks the 3rd collaboration between director Kabir Khan and Salman Khan; the duo had earlier given blockbusters like Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
Although Tubelight received favorable reviews from fans, but most of the critics and viewers have found it disappointing. Also being released pre Eid, it recorded lower footfalls in theaters and remained almost flat over the weekend at domestic box office. In its first week, Tubelight witnessed overall good but lesser than earlier expectations.
It did the business of total 106.86 crores across the 4350 screens of country, that includes 64.77 cr of weekend and 42.09 crores of weekdays. With this, it is surpassing the lifetime domestic total of SRK‘s Don 2 (106.71 crores). It has been released on around 1200 screens in overseas and has reported the total collection of 25 crores (gross 39 crores) from there till a week.
Now it has entered in the second week and being the only strong option on box office, it is expected to get decent in this weekend. On Friday, it started the day on an average note and raked the business of 2.15 crores. After its 8th day, total domestic collection of Tubelight is recorded as 109.01 crores. Let see how much rise it will take on Saturday and Sunday.
Produced under the banner of Salman Khan Films, Tubelight also features Salman Khan’s brother Sohail Khan, Chinese actress Zhu Zhu, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, late actor Om Puri and Matin Rey Tangu in key roles.
