Salman Khan’s latest offering, the war drama Tubelight has completed its opening weekend on an excellent note but lower than expected. Being Salman Khan starrer, the movie had massive pre-release hype across the globe. After release it got amazing response on box office and received mixed reviews from fans and critics as well. But some critics are not in its complete favor and rated it with low stars. They have appreciated the performance of Salman in Tubelight but not happy with its direction.
The Kabir Khan Films & Salman Khan Films’s presentation is still buzzing loudly among audience but its box office report says something else. On the first day, Tubelight made second higgest opening of the year so far with the business of 21.15 cr and reported overall occupancy of 50% across India. On the next day i.e. Saturday it faced slight jump in its business and minted 21.17 cr.
On the last day of weekend i.e. Sunday, it raked the business of 22.45 cr with little rise. With this, Tubelight has also registered the second highest opening weekend collection of the year so far with figure 64.77 cr. Now the movie has entered in weekdays but due to Eid, it remained good on Monday and estimated to collect the amount of 19.09 crores; to take it’s 4 days domestic total near 83.86 crores.
On the other side, Tubelight failed to put much impact at the overseas box office as well. The movie could just collect Rs 10.73 crore at the overseas market over its first weekend, taking its total gross worldwide collection to Rs 110.69 crore until Sunday. Being a Eid release, Tubelight was expected to break Salman’s previous box office records. But going by the present trend, it is likely to struggle in coming days.
