Superstar Akshay Kumar’s much awaited movie Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (TEPK) has finally released on box office and as expected witnessing excellent response across the globe. Being enormously hyped, it is buzzing among fans as well as audience from a long time. Reportedly it has released on 3590 screens including 3000 in India, 590 in Overseas and recorded overall 50% of occupancy on the opening day.
Due of its stimulating story and impactful performances, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has received almost positive reviews from critics as well as moviegoers. But some of them are not satisfied with it because of the simple screenplay as per their opinion. Rest all have found it very integrates a strong social message with entertainment wonderfully, marked it as one of the best movies of Akshay Kumar.
Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is a satirical comedy with a strong message. It will not only help empower women to speak up, but also help create awareness amongst the masses on the importance of cleanliness, sanitation and the availability of clean bathrooms. On social media and on the streets, Akshay and Bhumi’s performances have been praised by a few, but the movie and the execution has been panned by several.
On the opening day, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha started the day with good occupancy of 45% across the country. At the end of Friday, it recorded the overall occupancy of 50% and minted the amount of 13.10 crores on domestic box office. With such superior opening, it has emerged as the fifth highest opener of the year so far after Jab Harry Met Sejal (15.25 crores), Raees (20.42 crores), Tubelight (21.15 crores) and Baahubali 2 Hindi version (41 cr).
The star power of Akshay Kumar should definitely help the film to score a huge opening weekend. Though the opening is lesser than Akshay’s previous films Rustom (14.11 cr) and Housefull 3 (15.20 cr), the trend seems in the same range of Airlift. The biggest advantage for the film is a big holiday for Independence Day on Tuesday.
