Akshay Kumar starrer satirical comedy drama Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is enjoyed strong word of mouth and witnessed terrific response in the opening week. In the second week too it remained strong despite fresh releases and still has enough hold over audience across the country.
Due to its gripping story line and profound performances of lead stars, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha received very positive reviews from critics as well as moviegoers. Immense craze and positive reactions from audience boosted the excitement of Akshay’s fans, also made it to run for long steadily.
In its first week, Shree Narayan Singh’s directorial recorded excellent occupancy on Indian box office and registered the second highest opening week collection record of the year so far with the amount of 96.05 crores, that included 51.45 crores of weekend and 44.60 crores of weekdays.
In the second week despite the decent run of new release Bareilly Ki Barfi, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha remained strong and did the business of 28.35 crores with 19 crores of weekend and 9.35 crores of weekdays. In its third weekend, despite A Gentleman and Babumoshai Bandookbaaz it showed decent performance and raked 4.50 crores, including 1 crore of Friday, 1.50 crore of Saturday and 2 crores of Sunday.
Now the movie is once again running in weekdays and getting lesser occupancy as usual. On its third Monday, it collected 0.80 crore. On the next day i.e. Tuesday, it reported almost similar response and added the amount of 0.70 crore to its account. With this total 19 days domestic collection of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has become 130.40 crores.
