This Thursday, one of the much awaited films of the year, Thugs Of Hindostan hit the screens and fans rushed to theatres to catch two Megastars on silver screen with al excitement! However, the film couldn’t impress the audience and critics much and soon, negative reviews started pouring for the film.
Thugs of Hindostan became the highest first day grossing Hindi movie ever, beating the record of Happy New Year. With a screen count of 5,000 across India and an immense hype, it was well expected that the period drama would have a huge opening at the commercial circuits.
Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, this action adventure was opened on Thursday at a humongous note and remained strong throughout the day. With an overall 70-75% occupancy across the country, it registered the opening business of 52.25 crores (50.75 crores from Hindi only) and become the biggest opener of all time in Bollywood.
On the next day i.e. Friday, as expected Thugs Of Hindostan recorded a big drop and raked the business of 29.25 crores (28.25 from Hindi). After 2 days, the total collection of Aamir Khan starrer has become 81.50 crores from 5000 screens across India including Hindi, Tamil & Telugu versions.
Having been made at a budget of Rs 300 crore, Thugs of Hindostan needs to maintain strong hold at the box office even during the weekdays in order to recover its cost of production and earn profits. However, considering the huge fall in its earnings on second day, things might turn worrisome for the producers of the movie.
