The Kapil Sharma Show in Trouble as Nurses File a Defamation Case

The Kapil Sharma Show Nurse Controvery

Kapil Sharma has got into fresh trouble as nursing professionals in Amritsar have strongly criticised the “demeaning” portrayal of nurses in one of the episodes of “The Kapil Sharma Show.” They reportedly staged protests, burnt effigies of the stand-up comedian and also filed a police complaint against him. Rochelle Rao played the character of a nurse in one of the previous episodes of “The Kapil Sharma Show” and the way she portrayed the character has irked the fraternity in Amritsar. Nurses of government hospitals took to streets and demanded action against Kapil, reports India Today. The protestors also criticised Navjot Singh Sidhu for participating in the show.

According to the report, the protestors have alleged that nurses were portrayed in a vulgar manner on the show. Raising objections on the kind of uniform that Rochelle wore on the screen, the protestors alleged that Kapil often portrays nurses as being of “loose character” and “easily available.” The Punjab Nursing Association president, Raj Bedi Anand, has demanded an immediate apology from Kapil, failing which, he threatened, an FIR will be filed against the comedian, the report added.

Earlier, a police complaint was filed against Kiku Sharda for mimicking spiritual leader Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh on the erstwhile “Comedy Nights with Kapil.” The actor was arrested for allegedly hurting sentiments of his followers but was later released on bail. Apart from Kapil, “The Kapil Sharma Show” features Sunil Grover, Ali Asgar, Sumona Chakravarti, Kiku Sharda and Chandan Prabhakar. The show is aired on Sony Entertainment Television every Saturday and Sunday.
