Surya V/s Surya Movie Star Rating & Public Response
Debutante director Karthik Ghattamaneni’s “Surya Vs Surya” starring Nikhil Siddhartha and newbie Tridha Choudhury in lead roles has received mixed reviews from film critics across the globe. “Surya Vs Surya” is a beautiful romance drama written by cinematographer-turned-director Karthik. The movie revolves around the story of guy suffering from rare genetic disorder, due to which he cannot go out in the sunlight. He falls in love with a TV anchor, who breaks up with him after knowing about his disease. How he wins his love back forms the crux of the story. Nikhil Siddhartha and Tridha Choudhury’s performances are the main highlights of . While the movie has rich production values and interesting story, the screenplay has disappointed film critics. Most of the film critics have called the screenplay the biggest drawback of “Surya Vs Surya”, which has been rated an average of 2.35 stars out of 5.
Surya vs Surya is based on an interesting premise, has a bunch of interesting characters, and a solid conflict which keeps the lead character on his toes. At one point, it does seem like all these aspects are good enough for yet another interesting film, starring Nikhil. However, halfway through the story, Karthik Ghattamaneni, the director, runs out of all ideas to keep the plot engaging and what happens next is a laborious exercise to salvage the film from being a big bore. To draw an analogy, the film is almost like a secret, which keeps you hooked for some time, but once you are told what it is, you are left scratching your head wondering if this is what got you so excited in the first place.
On the whole, Surya vs Surya has some decent moments. Nikhil’s performance, interesting story and entertaining first half are major assets of this film. Nikhil’s popularity will bring in good crowds but a slow and predictable second half spoils the flow of the film and makes it just a one time watch.
