Sultan Fifth Day Box Office Report
Salman Khan-Anushka Sharma-starrer “Sultan” is unstoppable at the worldwide box office. “Sultan,” which is yet to finish its opening weekend run, has grossed over Rs. 250 crore at the worldwide box office. In India, “Sultan” has become the biggest grosser of 2016, shattering the records of Akshay Kumar’s “Airlift” (Rs. 128 crore), and at the worldwide box office, it has earned Rs. 203.01 crore. The worldwide box office collection includes Rs. 142.62 crore nett (Rs. 198.08 crore gross) domestic income and Rs. 56.87 crore gross overseas earnings. The four-day domestic and overseas collection of “Sultan” stands at Rs. 254.78 crore.
“Sultan” is smashing all box office records with its phenomenal box office run. The Ali Abbas Zafar directorial is the only Bollywood film that raked in over Rs. 30 crore consecutively in four days at the domestic box office and over Rs. 50 crore in just three days at the overseas box office. After recording an impressive four-day domestic box office collection and four-day overseas earnings, Sultan had a phenomenal Sunday with business of around 38.21 crore nett which takes the four day total to around 180.36 crore nett and if the advances for Sunday are counted the 150 crore nett barrier had already been breached by the end of business on Saturday.
The film just ran riot on Sunday especially in North India with Delhi / UP flirting with all time record collections and East Punjab growing a humongous 30% plus from high levels on Friday. It is very difficult for a commercial masala film coming on a such a wide release to grow on Sunday if its day two but here there is growth in the 20% region despite it being day five. Obviously it is not certain that Sunday will show more growth than Saturday because eventually the Sunday is day five and Muslim centres are getting back to normal but with the sort of Saturday the film has had even 10% growth will mean an extraordinary Sunday.
Basically the film is going to do similar to what Bajrangi Bhaijaan (184 cr) did in a week in five days. It could go a little higher or little lower depending on Sunday but the range is around Bajrangi Bhaijaan seven days in five days. Directed by Ali, “Sultan” was released in 5,450 screens worldwide on July 6. The film features Salman and Anushka as wrestlers, while Randeep Hooda, Amit Sadh and Kumud Mishra are in the supporting cast.
