Box Office: 26th Day Collection of Sultan
As the Salman Khan & Anushka Sharma blockbuster Sultan approaches its fourth weekend in India and internationally, producers Yash Raj Films have a pretty good idea of its ultimate global box office total. In India the romantic drama budgeted at $13 million had amassed 294 crore net ($44.2 million) through Thursday and is likely to reach 300 crore next week despite the July 29 launch of Dishoom, the action-adventure-comedy starring John Abraham, Varun Dhawan and Jacqueline Fernandez. Sultan has grossed more than 152 core internationally, led by the U.A.E./Gulf States’ $8.1 million, North America’s $5.9 million, Pakistan’s $2.9 million and the U.K.’s $2.1 million.
The net total in India equates to a gross of about $62 million. It’s the second-highest earner of Khan’s career, trailing Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which scored 320.34 crore net at home and 193 crore overseas last year. YRF’s second venture of the year, Sultan has completed its 3 weeks journey on box office and registered massive business total. In the opening week, the movie did the business of 229.16 crores with 180.36 crores of weekend and 48.80 crores of weekdays. In the second week, despite new release it maintained a decent pace and raked 48.80 crores total with 34.07 crores of weekend and 14.73 crores of weekdays.
In the third week, Sultan had newly released much awaited superstar Rajinikanth starrer Kabali in opposite and managed to collect 15.84 crores with 11.09 crores of weekend and 4.75 crores of weekdays. After 3 weeks, total collection of the movie was recorded as 293.80 crores on domestic box office and 154.10 crores from overseas market. Sultan is still on track for 300 crore nett as it has grossed around 60 lakhs on the first day of its fourth week which means collections are still there despite the new release Dishoom. Now Sultan has entered in the fourth week and once again witnessing slight growth in its occupancy due to weekend.
On Friday it faced little higher drop than Thursday and minted 0.65 crore. On Saturday, it started the day with almost similar occupancy as yesterday but recorded decent growth from evening shows. Considering the reports, Sultan estimated to add 0.98 crore to its account on 25th day and take its domestic total to 295.30 crores. Meanwhile, the collection of the film will decline in its fourth week due to new releases. On Sunday action-adventure thriller “Dishoom” has opened to a good response in India. Sultan performed lower on the fourth weekend. The film collected 1.51 crore over the weekend and now stands with a total collection of 296.86 crores at the domestic box office.
