Sultan 19th Day Box Office Response

Sultan the most successful movie of Salman Khan so far, is thundering on box office. It has completed the third weekend yesterday and with the end of it, Sultan has become the second highest grosser Bollywood movie at domestic box office by beating Aamir Khan starrer Dhoom 3. In year 2013’s released Dhoom 3 was made the record total collection of 284.27 crores which Sultan has dominated in just 18 days of release. This is really amazing, movie is performing with a pace of beyond expectations. Fans of Salman now looking very much excited and expecting it to gross 300 crores before the end of its third week.

While everyone is talking about Rajinikanth‘s Kababli, Salman Khan‘s Sultan continues its glorious run at the box office. Yes, Rajinikanth’s latest release is breaking quite a few records, but looks like it ain’t stopping Sultan anytime soon. Salman Khan’s Eid release has broken several records over the past two weeks and it is all set to break a few more as it nears Rs 550 crore mark at the worldwide market. We revealed to you yesterday how the film has collected Rs 277.96 crore nett (Rs 388.96 crore) at the domestic market at the end of week 2. And now, we hear that the film has nearly touched the Rs 150 crore mark at the overseas market.

Talking about the amazing overseas figures, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Sultan – OVERSEAS – Week 2: $ 21.65 million [Rs 145.49 cr]. AWESOME! #Sultan – OVERSEAS [key markets] – Week 2: USA-CANADA: $ 5.60 mn, UAE-GCC: $ 7.88 mn, UK-IRELAND: $ 2.09 mn, PAKISTAN: $ 2.80 mn”. This means that Sultan has collected Rs 534.45 crore at the worldwide market and will cross the Rs 550 crore mark by the end of this weekend. It will also cross the worldwide collections of Dhoom 3 (Rs 542 crore) by today.

Sultan had received fabulous review from the critics as well as the public. And with mixed reactions for Madaari and Kabali, there is no stopping this film over the third weekend also. While Rajinikanth’s stardom will propel Kabali, it won’t be able to compete against Sultan. As a top ranking executive from a multiplex chain told DNA, “Traditionally, Rajinikanth’s films have never done well in their dubbed Hindi versions. Even Shankar’s Robot was only a moderate success in Hindi. It’s doubtful that Kabali would make any dent in the collections of Sultan.”

Despite new and strong contender, Sultan heading unaffectedly on box office. With usual drop in its occupancy, Ali Abbas Zafar’s directorial minted 2.14 crores on its third Friday. On Saturday, being weekend it witnessed decent growth in its business and estimated to add the amount of 3.81 crores to its account. With this, its domestic total will become 283.62 crores*. In the starting days it made good business but fell down gradually in the later days, on its 3rd Sunday Sultan has done a business of around 5.14 Crores from India and now total collection become 289.05 Crores.
