Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu’s latest much awaited offering SPYder was released with huge craze among fans as well as Telugu audience. As expected the film has received overwhelmed response from everyone. The movie directed by AR Murugadoss, has received mixed reviews from critics but audience found it very much thrilling.
The spy thriller Spyder stars Mahesh Babu and Rakul Preet Singh is lead roles, while S.J. Surya as an antagonist and R.J.Balaji, Bharath, Nadhiya in supporting roles. All the actors have performed excellently and are being appreciated by everyone for that. On the opening day, this latest Tollywood offering has recorded tremendous occupancy across the Telugu states and registered the ample business of 23.40 crores net and 27.60 crores gross from there.
On the next day i.e. 1st Thursday, Spyder witnessed considerable drop like other south Indian movies but still remained strong and raked the business of 20.50 crores gross with 9.35 crores from Telugu states and 11.15 crores from rest of Indian regions and overseas market.
On Friday, SPYder received little higher response in its occupancy and minted the amount of 19 crores including 9 crores of AP/TS and 10 crores of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, rest of India and overseas. While from USA also, the movie had started its journey on an impressive note with 6.59 crores of opening business on Tuesday and reported around 7.73 crores from there so far.
SPYder has been directed by A R Murugadoss and it is Mahesh Babu’s debut film in Tamil cinema. “I’ve been having sleepless nights. I’m nervous, but at the same time excited. SPYder is my debut in Tamil and I feel like a debutant despite being an actor for 18 years,” Mahesh Babu told news agency IANS.
Ramesh Bala tweeted that some of the audience members in Chennai told him that they liked Mahesh Babu a lot because of his ‘soft-spoken onscreen persona.’ Similar sentiments were echoed in Subhash K Jha’s review for IANS, in which he called Mahesh Babu’s portrayal of Shiva as “antithesis of Prabhas’ sweaty over-exertive performance in the Baahubali series.” He gave the film 4-star rating.
