After a few dramatic (Padmaavat, PadMan) and thrilling (Aiyaary) affairs, it is time for some fun, laughter and gags this Friday, what with Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (SKTKS) and Welcome To New York gearing up to hit the screens. Both films are catering to family audiences and primarily youngsters. They have different stories to tell as well as SKTKS is about the battle between bromance and romance while Welcome To New York is a comedy of errors with the backdrop of IIFA event.
There is no doubting the fact that director Luv Ranjan has carved a niche for himself with the Pyaar Ka Punchnama franchise. His films have had a youthful, bromantic kind of vibe that holds its own appeal. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the frustrated monologue that Kartik Aaryan delivered as Rajat has achieved a cult status of its own.
Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety has relative newcomers in its star cast but the buzz is quite good already due to a terrific promo and popular songs. There is widespread curiosity amongst the audience to check out this entertainer and that promises a start in the range of 6-7 crore.
On the other hand, Welcome To New York does have Sonakshi Sinha leading the cast along with Diljit Dosanjh that makes it a more star-driven affair. Moreover, Riteish Deshmukh and Karan Johar add on to the visibility quotient as well. However, the film is more of an experimental affair with fact meeting fiction and hence it would be interesting to see how do audiences lap on to this one.
There is a special attraction though with the film also releasing in 3D. Even with a 2-4 crore opening day, the stage would be set for this Vashu Bhagnani production to gain momentum over the weekend if the content turns out to be promising.
