Shubh Mangal Savdhan, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar, is a remake of 2013 Tamil film Kalyana Samayal Sadham. It is touching a topic less spoken about – erectile dysfunction, and doing well at the box office. Both Ayushmann and Bhumi should pat themselves for treading on the path that was less taken by Bollywood artistes.

While the former started his career by portraying the role of a sperm donor, the latter has done two films, both of which are content backed – Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Dum Laga Ke Haisha. Now the two have collaborated for Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, a film that talks on erectile dysfunction. Also it has received positive reviews from critics and the similar response from audience.

On the opening day, it recorded an average occupancy across India due to clash with Baadshaho and did the business of only 2.71 crores from 1650 screens worldwide (1400 domestic and 250 international). On the next day i.e. Saturday due to Eid holiday and positive word of mouth, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan took an impressive jump of around 105% than Friday and minted the amount of 5.56 crores.

Then on Sunday as well, it showed more growth and raked the amount of 6.19 crores. With this first weekend total collection of Ayushmann-Bhumi starrer has become 14.46 crores at domestic box office. Now Shubh Mangal Saavdhan has entered in weekdays and like Baadshao, it also faced some drop in it’s footfalls than before but still remained steady.

On Monday, the movie recorded 8.50% drop business than Friday and fetched 2.53 crores to raise it’s 4 days domestic total to 16.99 crores. Shubh Mangal Savdhan released alongside Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi starrer heist thriller Baadshaho. This, as the films from previous including A Gentleman, Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, Bareily Ki Barfi and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha are already keeping their hold at the theaters.
