3rd Tuesday Box Office Collection of Shivaay
Shivaay, Ajay Devgn‘s masterpiece, is still earning which says a lot about the film. It may have fallen short of few numbers from its counterpart Ae Dil Hai Mushkil that released along with it, but it stood its ground on its own. Relying completely on Ajay’s star power and spectacular visuals, Shivaay continues to fetch money for him. It was doubly special for Ajay as he was directing the film too. Despite demonetisation, the film hasn’t stopped minting money. After 18 days, the film has earned 97 cr. Time to aim for 100 crore!
It recorded good occupancy through out the opening week and did the excellent business of 70.41 crores including 28.56 crores of weekend and 41.85 crores of weekdays. In the second week too, it remained steady and did the business of 22.99 crores with 17.09 crores of weekend and 5.90 crores of weekdays. Now Shivaay is running in its third week and getting low response due to current situation in the country. In the third weekend, it has registered the business of only 2.35 crores including 0.60 crore of Friday, 0.85 crore of Saturday and 0.90 crore of Sunday.
After 17 days of release, total collection of Shivaay was recorded as 95.75 crores on domestic box office. Once again it is in weekdays and asusual expected to receive lesser occupancy than before, but being holiday on Monday it reported slightly better performance and did the business of 1.25 crore to make its 18 days domestic total as 97 crores. On the next day i.e. Tuesday, it faced slight drop and minted the amount of 1.12 crores* as its 19th day collection; made its domestic total to 98.12 crores*.
We had asked our Trade Expert Amul Vikas Mohan, Editor Super Cinema if Modi’s ban on old 500 and 1000 rupee notes was affecting both Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay and he had said, “Yea. it is affecting the films slightly. They had a good second weekend collections. They were expected to do certain numbers towards the end of the week. But that number will now going to be a little off. We can already see that the situations are a little off for both the movies.” But with the way both the films are earning, it hasn’t harmed them much which makes us hopeful that 100 crore is not too far for Shivaay
