Shivaay 16th Day Collection; Ajay Devgn-starrer Earned Rs 95 Crore in 16 Days

2nd Saturday Collection of Shivaay

Year’s much anticipated action thriller Shivaay has lagged behind the Ranbir Kapoor starrer Ae Dil Hai Mushkil on domestic as well as overseas box office. But received very positive reviews from viewers and most of the critics. These favorable reactions generated strong word of mouth about the movie and made it to earn well. In its first week, Shivaay had reported good occupancy in theaters through out and did the fair business of 70.41 crores including 28.56 crores of weekend and 41.85 crores of weekdays.

On Monday & Tuesday being holidays, it showed impressive growth in its business, which made it to rake higher amount in weekdays than weekend. In the second week, due to new noticeable release it remained steady opposite to adjacently released Karan Johar’s directorial Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Shivaay minted the amount of 17.09 crores in its second weekend, whereas ADHM registered 16.96 crores. In weekdays, Ajay Devgn’s directorial faced usual drop and done the business of 2.50 crores on Monday, 1.90 crore on Tuesday, 0.80 crore on Wednesday and 0.70 crore on Thursday.

After 2 weeks, total collection of Shivaay was recorded as 93.40 crores on domestic box office. Now the movie has entered in the third week and has musical drama Rock On 2 is opposite along with already existing Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. On third Friday, Shivaay witnessed lesser audience in theaters than previous day and added the amount of 0.65 crore to its account.  The film has dropped in the second week and on its third Saturday, collected approximately 52 lacs*. It now stands with collection of 95.07 crores* at the domestic box office.

Still it can attract enough audience, so it is expected to show decent performance in this weekend. One of the major setback for all films this week has been the demonetization move of the government, which has left the theaters empty. Also, since Shivaay had its stronghold in single screens, this move has affected it even worse. With the new release, Rock On 2 taking a low start, Shivaay still has a chance to sustain itself in the third week.
