Neither Qarib Qarib Singlle nor Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana were expected to set the box office on fire on their day of release. With the target audience exactly the same for both the films, it was always going to be an in-house battle, albeit on a much smaller scale.
Directed by Tanuja Chandra, Qarib Qarib Singlle has quirky plot and is being liked by audience. Although from critics it is getting mixed remarks but still leading over the adjacent one Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana with almost double rate. At box office also, it recorded dull response and registered the opening of only 1.75 crore on 750 screens nationwide.
On Saturday, despite being weekend it witnessed impressive growth and collected the amount of 3.05 crores to make it’s total 4.80 crores. The reviews for the film are decent and word of mouth too is on the same lines, especially amongst multiplex junta.
While on the other hand, Ratnaa Sinha’s directorial Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana has started it’s journey on little slower note than Qarib Qarib Singlle and getting mixed reviews from critics. On Friday, Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana reported a dull opening across India and did the business of only 0.75 crore as per earlier expectations.
On Saturday due to weekend, it witnessed slight rise in footfalls but still remained low and raked the business of 1 crore. With this, total 2 days collection of the movie has become 1.75 crores. If the film’s collections do not double up on Sunday, it would be a tough road ahead for the Rajkummar Rao and Kriti Kharbanda starrer. These films will face competition with Ittefaq and Golmaal Again.
