Director Advait Chandan’s latest venture Secret Superstar was released last Thursday with decent buzz among audience and started it’s journey on a satisfied note. Afterward it witnessed usual drop in weekdays but managed to remain steady throughout the opening week across the country.
Trade analysts have said the film, which has a new director, a 17-year-old as its lead and a cameo by Aamir in a quirky avatar as Shakti Kumaarr, is drawing the audience by word of mouth. The film fraternity had also spread a positive buzz about the movie on social media prior to its release. It is produced by Aamir and Kiran Rao under the banner name of Aamir Khan Productions, Zee Studios and Akash Chawla.
With a decent start, Secret Superstar recorded constant growth over the opening weekend and did the business of total 31.31 crores, which was including 4.80 crores on Thursday, 9.30 crores on Friday, 8.71 crores on Saturday and 8.50 crores on Sunday from around 1750 screens in India.
In weekdays, Aamir Khan’s production venture faced abrupt dip in it’s business graph but maintained a steady pace. On Monday with 30% of drop than Friday, the movie managed to collect the amount of 3.04 crores. Then on Tuesday, with slight more drop it added the amount of 2.75 crores to its account.
With further decline on Wednesday, Secret Superstar minted the amount of 2.40 crore. With this, it’s one week total collection has become 39.50 crores on domestic box office. Made on a budget of Rs 15 crore including the cost of production and prints and publicity, ‘Secret Superstar‘, which released on Diwali on October 19.
At this juncture, the biggest roadblock still in its way is Golmaal Again, which is doing an unstoppable business at the box office. Although the collections saw an upward trend on the weekend, the movie was making collections in slo-mo thereafter.
