Rustom 9th Day Collection: 2nd Saturday Performance on Indian Box Office

Rustom Ninth Day Box Office Collection

Akshay Kumar’s “Rustom” has collected a good amount at the Indian box office in the first eight days of its release and has turned out to be one of the most profitable ventures of 2016. “Rustom” has already recovered its total production cost. It was made on a budget of Rs. 40 crore [Production cost being Rs. 26 crore (excluding Akshay’s fees) and print and advertising and other cost being Rs.14 crore]. The film’s satellite rights were sold at Rs. 30 crore, while overseas box office collection resulted in over Rs.20 crore, and the music rights fetched Rs.7 crore. Akshay is one of the producers of the film and will earn from the profits that the film makes.

The domestic box office collection of “Rustom” over the first seven days stands at Rs.90.90 crore net. With this, the crime-thriller has made a profit of Rs.50.90 crore at the box office, which is 127.25 percent profit at the end of its first week. As per early estimates, the film will collect approximately Rs.97 crore net on its eighth day, thereby making a profit of Rs.57.90 crore. Going by the profit percentage, the Akshay and Ileana D’Cruz-starrer is currently the fourth most profitable film of 2016, after “Neerja” (Budget: Rs.21 crore, profit percentage: 248 after fourth week), “Sultan” (Budget: Rs.90 crore, profit percentage: Rs.221.11 crore after fourth week) and “Airlift” (budget: Rs.40 crore, profit percentage: 219.5 after three weeks of run).

On its second Friday, Rustom was witnessed almost similar response as Thursday and minted the amount of 4.41 crores. On Saturday being weekend, it has recorded decent rise in its business and added 5.77 crores to its account. Till the end of its 9th day, total collection of the film is calculated as 101.08 crores. Now just a day away and it will touch the mark of 100 crores at domestic box office also.

Despite having clashed with “Mohenjo Daro,” “Rustom” excelled at the box office, leaving the Hrithik Roshan-starrer far behind. The Tinu Suresh Desai-directed movie has turned out to be Akshay’s highest grossing first week film of all time. It has already broken several box office records and is expected to shatter a few more in the upcoming week. In just six days, “Rustom” overtook the first week domestic box office collection record of “Housefull 3” and in seven days it surpassed the first week collection of “Airlift.” Had the film got a solo release, it would have managed to break a few more box office records.
