Rustom 19 Days Box Office Collection
This year has been fruitful for Akshay Kumar. All three films of his entered Rs 100 crores club and his cameo in Dishoom was a scene stealer. In fact, it was the most talked about thing in the film. And when his Rustom released his fans thought this will be the last time he’ll be seen on big screen this year and audience have to until next year for Jolly LLB 2. Well looks like the fans won’t have to wait for that long to catch their favourite star on the big screen. As per buzz, Akshay Kumar will be seen next in Sonakshi Sinha starrer Akira, directed by A R Murugadoss. A source even went ahead and said Akshay’s role will be a big surprise in Akira.
Akshay Kumar’s last film Rustom is in its third week and is still doing brisk business at the box office. The film is already a success and has crossed Rs 100 crores at the box office. In fact, Akshay Kumar has given three back to back Rs 100 crores successes in a single year. His next full fledged role will be in Jolly LLB 2 which is set to release in February 2017. The first part of the court room drama starred Arshad Warsi in the title role and was replaced by Akshay Kumar. With strong word of mouth, Neeraj Pandey’s Rustom is heading dominantly. In the first week, it successfully dominated the adjacent release Mohenjo Daro.
In the second week despite new Hindi offering Happy Bhag Jayegi, it remained strong and scored 26.11 crores, including 17.12 crores of weekend and 8.99 crores of weekdays. The movie is now running in its third week and has fresh release A Flying Jatt in opposite. Despite this, it recorded decent response in the weekend and minted 5.27 crores, which included 1.29 crore of Friday, 1.89 crore of Saturday and 2.09 crores of Sunday from Indian screens.
In weekdays, once again the film has started facing considerable drops in its business. On Monday, it witnessed the drop of more than 50% and collected the amount of 0.67 crore and made its to 122.95 crores. With this figure, Rustom has surpassed the lifetime collection record of SRK’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan. On Tuesday, it received almost similar response and minted 0.61 crore. Till the end of its 19th day, total India collection of Rustom is recorded as 123.58 crores.
