Roy Movie Sixth Day Box Office Collection
Ranbir Kapoor-Jacqueline Fernandez starrer ‘Roy’, which have become the highest opening day grosser of 2015, saw a slight jump in its box office collections to Rs 3.76 crore on first Tuesday. After having surged ahead with good collections on Saturday, the movie’s business had dropped on Sunday, before dipping further on Monday. ‘Roy’ box office collections now stand at Rs 36.09 crore in five days. Despite posting good opening day figures, ‘Roy’ witnessed a stark drop in collections on Sunday, a big day of business for any movie, due to the much anticipated India-Pakistan match at the ongoing Cricket World Cup. In fact, ‘Roy’ could collect merely Rs 7.12 crore resulting in it becoming the second highest opening weekend grosser of the year with Rs. 28.68 crore, losing the top slot to Akshay Kumar’s ‘Baby’ that collected Rs 36.07 crore. However, the romantic thriller managed to surpass previous releases like Arjun Kapoor’s ‘Tevar’ (Rs 22.05 crore) and Amitabh Bachchan-Dhanush starrer ‘Shamitabh’ (Rs 13.25 crore) on their first weekends.
Roy 6th day Box Office Business
Ranbir Kapoor’s “Roy” remained steady at the box office on Wednesday. “Roy” made a business of Rs.2.92 crores on 6th Day i.e. 1st Wednesday at the Domestic Box Office. The domestic net earnings of “Roy” also starring Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernandez now stands at Rs.39.01 crore, after six days. Though the numbers are stable, the film couldn’t live up to trade analysts’ expectation in India. The pre-release hype, songs and trailer had received positive response, but negative reviews hampered its collection at the domestic box office after two days. Nevertheless, “Roy” that was made in the moderate budget of Rs.30 crores with additional Rs.10 crores for P & A, has garnered Rs.39.09 crores in five days and already earned Rs.35 crores through music, overseas rights and satellite rights. The movie which was made in a modest budget as already recovered its cost of making. With the film still in cinemas, India box office collection with Home Video, internet and terrestrial rights the film which are yet to monetized will make the film a definite profit for the producers. ‘Roy’ will now have to depend on words of mouth to score big at the box office in the coming days before that release of Varun Dhawan-Huma Qureshi starrer ‘Badlapur’ on Friday.
