VIP starring Dhanush was a major hit in 2014. It talked of Raghuvaran who secured a job after being unemployed for four years and what happens thereafter. Two years later, Dhanush has returned with its sequel – VIP2, same Raghuvaran, different story. And this time, Dhanush has collaborated with his sister-in-law Soundarya Rajinikanth! Yes, Dhanush will be penning down the script, while Soundarya will pan the camera. To add to it, Kalapuli S Thanu who produced Kabali will be bank rolling this project.


The rest of the cast – Hrishikesh, Amala Paul, Saranya, and Samuthirakani will continue to be part of the sequel. Just when things could not get any more exciting,we had another lead Bollywood actor joining the cast.  She’s a firecracker, super talented and a force to reckon with. In fact, she is not new to Tamil cinema. We are talking about Kajol! After making her debut in Kollywood 19 years ago, here she is again. She will reportedly play the lead antagonist. Interestingly, she debuted in Tamil cinema – Minsara Kanavu and played her first villain role (Gupt) in the same year – 1997.

As per reports on Galatta, it will be the classic cat and mouse chase between Dhanush and Kajol. Also Read: Dhanush and Kajol’s film on the lines of The Pursuit of Happyness? The movie will be filmed in Tamil and Telugu. The music will be composed by Anirudh Ravichander. It was in the last week of November, Dhanush and Soudnarya had met up with Kajol to narrate the script. She had expressed her keeness but tat that time, there was no official announcement.

It was on 20 December Kajol posted an official picture confirming the news. At the Sansui Stardust Awards 2016, when Kajol was asked about VIP 2, she mentioned she was apprehensive and that she was excited to return to Tamil cinema after a long gap. She consider Dhanush a fine actor and that she believes Soundarya knows what she is doing. In fact, the two got along quite well.
