This Ajay Devgn starrer is not only doing well at the Indian box office but has also taken a convincing start at the overseas box office too. Post Golmaal Again, Raid is another success story in writing for Ajay Devgn. Raid, based on a true story about money laundering, released on Friday. Directed by Rajkumar Gupta, the film also stars Ileana D’Cruz, Saurabh Shukla.
Meanwhile, the good run of Raid has curtailed the innings of all other Hindi films that were playing in theaters. The only film which is still finding audience though is Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety which has already gone past the 100 crore mark but still bringing in audiences at the limited number of screens where it is playing.
In the opening weekend, this period drama reported good occupancy throughout on single as well as multi screens and did the strong business of 41.01 crores. It was included 10.04 crores of Friday, 13.86 crores of Saturday and 17.11 crores of Sunday from 3400 screens in India.
Now it is running in weekdays and heading steadily due to positive reactions of audience. With usual drops, Raid minted the amount of 6.26 crores on Monday and 5.76 crores on Tuesday. Then on Wednesday, the film raked the business of 5.36 crores and raised it’s 6 days domestic total to 58.39 crores.
It has collected USD $ 1.8 million (11.74 crores) at the overseas box office till Sunday. The number is pretty good given the genre of the film. It doesn’t have a huge chunk of target audience but word of mouth is seeming to do the trick.
