After a decent opening on Friday, superstar Ajay Devgn’s much-anticipated offering Raid has shown superb growth on Saturday at the domestic box office. Due to a super positive word of mouth, the film has witnessed a remarkable jump in footfalls across the country. Alongside Ajay Devgn, this period crime thriller features Ileana D’Cruz, Saanand Verma and Saurabh Shukla in lead roles.
Must say all three have played their characters outstandingly and are being appreciated by all the viewers. Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, Raid is based on one of the most high-profile real income tax raids of the country conducted by Indian Revenue Services in 1980’s. As expected, the film is being liked by everyone because of its solid story and brilliant performances by the actors.
Raid opened to a lesser note than expected on Friday. It recorded overall decent occupancy across the country and did the business of 10.04 crores from 3400 screens. With this, it registered the 6th highest opening of Ajay’s career so far.
On the next day i.e. Saturday, the film witnessed a solid growth of approx. 37% than Friday and minted the number of 13.86 crores. After 2 days of release, Raid raised its total collection to 23.90 crores. Due to a public holiday, Sunday is expected to add an excellent business to its account. Raid is yet another success for Ajay Devgn and now it has to be seen where does it eventually land up.
Though it would be quite soon to talk about its entry into the 100 Crore Club, a good lifetime number is definitely on the cards that would ensure profits for all involved. No wonder, its makers T-Series must be quite happy since Raid is now turning out to be their third winner in a row after Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and Hate Story IV and that too in a matter of just four Fridays.
