Ajay Devgn and Ileana D’Cruz-starrer period crime thriller film, Raid, has released at the box office on Friday. The film, directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, has received mostly positive reviews from critics across the country. The audience too has positive things to say about the film. The hype it gained after the trailer, helped it to take smooth start across the country as well as overseas.
Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, Raid is based on one of the most high-profile real income tax raids of the country conducted by Indian Revenue Services in 1980’s. As expected, the film is being liked by everyone because of its solid story and brilliant performances by the actors.
On the first day, Panorama Studios and T-Series Films’ this collaboration opened to a fair note and recorded around 35% of occupancy on 3400 screens across the country. Over the evening and night shows, it witnessed good growth in urban areas and registered the 2nd highest opening of 2018 with the amount of 10.04 crores at the domestic box office.
The opening business of Raid is lesser than Ajay’s previous releases Golmaal Again (33 crores) and Baadshaho (12.03 crores) Singham Returns (32 crores), Himmatwala (12 crores) and Bol Bachchan (11.40 crores) and the Raid registered the 6th highest opening of Ajay’s career.
As the word of mouth is quite positive for Raid, so this period crime is positively expected to take noticeable growth over the weekend and remain steady in weekdays as well. However, it might face some competition from movies like Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and Hate Story 4. Currently, Raid has the lowest opening for an Ajay Devgn feature, except for Drishyam. But only time will tell if this movie is a success or not.
