SRK’s Raees Emerges as Biggest Opener of the Year so far!

The very much hyped movie of the year Raees of superstar Shahrukh Khan has released today, of course with huge excitement of audience. The movie has started on an excellent note at box office and received positive reviews from critics as well as movie goers. Earlier it was expected as the only movie to break the record of Aamir Khan starrer Dangal this year. But because of the clash with Kaabil, the competition get shrinked in between these two adjacent release. Sanjay Gupta’s Kaabil has taken 40% of screens from Raees and resulted out in heavy loss for it.

Considering that Raees (2700 screens approx) had an advantage in terms of screen space (Kaabil has approximately 2200 screens), the collections will incline more towards Shah Rukh Khan’s film. However, we expect both the films to see a huge growth tomorrow as it is a national holiday (Republic day). But the winner will be decided by this weekend. Audience was waiting a long time for this film getting release and now when the day has finally came, audience showed up huge interest in the film and everyone was outside the theatres and cinema halls today to watch this movie.

Overall occupancy of the film was not so good today but in few cities, day shows were seen houseful. On the very first day, Raees has recorded the excellent occupancy of 70% across the country. It has minted the amount of 20.42 crores as its opening day collection on Indian screens. Now the film is set to face its first weekend and next four days will be profitable for it as it is the weekend time and also because of movie’s positive words of mouth.

While it has been up and down throughout the day, we expect it to grow further as the evening shows kick in. This will help give a push to the collections of Raees, meaning that the movie will end the day on a high note. The film tells the story of bootlegger Raees Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) whose business is challenged and eventually thwarted by a police officer played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Mahira Khan, the Pakistani actor, plays the love interest of SRK in the film and their compatibility reminds of all the romantic songs of the actor you have ever seen so far.
