Prem Ratan Dhan Payo Friday Box Office Collection
Salman Khan’s “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” (PRDP) has shattered the records of his previous films, including “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” and “Ek Tha Tiger”, to become the highest opening day grosser. “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo”, also starring Sonam Kapoor, recorded the highest first day income for any Bollywood film this year, beating “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”. However, the film has failed to beat the records of Shah Rukh Khan’s “Happy New Year”, which still holds the title of highest opening day grosser. “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo”, which received mixed reviews, earned Rs 40.35 crore on day one at the domestic box office. The Rs 40 crore box office collection is only for the Hindi version of the film. The first day business will increase after adding the Telugu and Tamil version income, but the overall collection is lower than “Happy New Year”. Shah Rukh’s film “Happy New Year”, which was released a day after Diwali last year, earned Rs 42.62 crore from the Hindi version, Rs 1.43 crore from the Telugu version and Tamil version got Rs 92 lakh. Nevertheless, “PRDP” has set records at several circuits in India, especially in the North circuits, according to Box Office India.
