Year’s first biggie Padmaavat has taken more days than expected but finally a step away to enter in 100 crore club on domestic box office. Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor starrer, the movie has been released with enormous hype across the country as well as overseas and as expected received favorable response from most of the viewers.
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Padmaavat got released under challenging conditions where the multiplex owners in several states denied to screen it, due to threats and protests by Karni Sena. Despite all this, the movie completed the opening weekend on an excellent note and also gained positive word of mouth.
On the opening day, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial recorded excellent occupancy and did the business of 19 crores. Before that, it had paid previews on Wednesday and added the amount of 5 crores to it’s account. On the second day, due to holiday on account of Republic Day and favorable reactions from viewers, Padmaavat added the amount of 32 crores to its account.
Then with usual weekend growth the movie minted the amount of 27 crores on Saturday and 31 crores on Sunday. After 4-days opening weekend, total domestic collection of Padmaavat was recorded as 114 crores nett.
Now Deepika-Ranveer-Shahid starrer has entered in weekdays and getting lesser audience in theaters than weekend. On Monday, it reported almost 21% of drop than Thursday and done the business of 15 crores, which has made its 5 days total collection as 129 crores from Indian screens.
