Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat has ended its second week on a great note at the box office. Since there was no big release last week, Padmaavat remained the first choice for the moviegoers. ‘Padmaavat’, starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, has managed to win the hearts of the audience and critics with stellar performances.
Since Akshay Kumar’s Pad Man has released today, Padmaavat has faced a huge crunch at the ticket window. The third weekend of Padmaavat will be very crucial as it will give us the clear idea about film’s lifetime business at the box office. Padmaavat is made on the lavish budget of Rs 180 crore while later the makers spent addition Rs 20 crore to convert film’s print into IMAX and 3D formats.
Padmaavat started it’s journey on an outstanding note and remained strong throughout the opening week. It did the business of total 166.50 crores that included 114 crores of weekend and 52.50 crores of weekdays. In the second weekend as well, Padmaavat stayed steady and raked the business of 46 crores including 10 crores of Friday, 16 crores of Saturday and 20 crores of Sunday.
Then in weekdays, asusual it faced some drops and minted the amount of 7 crores on Monday, 6 crores on Tuesday and 5.50 crores on Wednesday. On the last day i.e. Thursday, the movie witnessed further dip in footfalls and collected the amount of 5 crores. With this, total collection of Padmaavat has become 236 crores at domestic box office.
Talking about big Bollywood clashes, then it is now the second biggest winner after Bajirao Mastani (184.20 crores). Yet another record has been surpassed by the film, that of the lifetime total of Kick [233 crore] which is now history. Despite not releasing in the key states like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, Padmaavat has set new benchmarks at the box office
