Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat is on a record-breaking spree at the box office with its collection having crossed Rs 2000 crore nett in the domestic market in just 10 days. The movie completed 10 days at the Indian box office on Sunday, witnessing an excellent 2nd-weekend business. Padmaavat has been phenomenal at the box office since its opening day and remained strong all through the weekdays and the 2nd weekend as well.
In the first week, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor starrer recorded higher response and did the excellent business of 166.50 crores. This was including 114 crores of 4-days weekend (Wed 5cr, Thu 19cr, Fri 32cr, Sat 27cr, Sun 31cr) and 52.50 crores of weekdays (Mon 15cr, Tue 14cr, Wed 12.50cr, Thu 11cr).
Now the movie is running in its second week and reported good growth in this weekend. On 2nd Friday, Padmaavat showed slight drop in its business graph and minted the amount of 10 crores. On Saturday the film took a superb jump, it managed to collect the amount of 16 crores.
Then on the last day of weekend i.e. Sunday, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat done the business of 20 crores and made its total domestic collection after second weekend as 212.50 crores. And also surpassed the lifetime total of Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (210.16 crores).
As for Chennai Express, it too would be history by the time the second week is through as Padmaavat should manage to edge past 227 crores as well. That would also bring the film into Top-10 grossers of all times (ever since the advent of 100 Crore Club) and the next film in line would be Kick (232 crores). We will talk about that film and others from second weekend onwards.
