Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus, that had been embroiled in countless controversies like Karni Sena’s opposition over the distortion of facts about Rani Padmini, among others, has emerged as the box office winner since its release. Not only audiences across the globe but also Bollywood actors are all praises for the Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor‘s portrayal of Alauddin Khilji, Rani Padmavati and Maharana Ratan Singh respectively in the film.
Padmaavat has been on a massive run at the box-office. Despite facing huge screen crunch due to Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor, Radhika Apte starrer Padman, the film still riding high and is inviting moviegoers. In the opening week movie done the business of 166.50 crores that included 114 crores of weekend and 52.50 crores of weekdays.
Then in the second week as well, it got good response and raked the business of 69.50 crores including 46 crores of weekend and 23.50 crores of weekdays. It did the business of total 17.80 crores in the third weekend, that included 3.50 crores of Friday, 6.30 crores of Saturday and 8 crores of Sunday. Then in weekdays, it witnessed usual drop but still collected well.
On 3rd Monday, SLB’s directorial minted the amount of 3.20 crore with 9% of drop than last Friday. With further drop, it raked the business of 3.75 crore on Tuesday due to Maha Shivaratri holiday and 4.50 crore of Wednesday due to Valentine’s Day. On the next day i.e. 3rd Thursday, with a usual drop, Padmaavat raked the business of 2.50 crores and raised its 3 weeks total collection to 267.75 crores at the domestic box office.
The story of Padmaavat revolves around menacing Sultan of Delhi Alauddin Khilji, who wishes to conquer the queen of Chittorgarh Rani Padmavati. The film also stars Aditi Rao Hydari, Jim Sarbh, Raza Murad, and Anupriya Goenka feature in supporting roles. Padmaavat is helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and bankrolled under the banners of Sanjay Leela Bhansali productions and Viacom 18.
