OK Jaanu 1st Day Collection, Opens to a Decent Occupancy in India

First Day Collection Aditya-Shraddha’s OK Jaanu

Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur‘s OK Jaanu released today and looks like it has gotten off to a great start. The movie, which released in upwards of 1400 screens, opened with an occupancy of 30 per cent in the morning shows. After the average advance booking, OK Jaanu started the opening day with 25% of occupancy across the country and witnessed decent rise from the evening shows. As per the report, the movie has done the decent business of 4.08 crores on domestic box office and positively expected to show growth over the weekend. Already existing Aamir Khan’s Dangal still has enough hold over the audience.

On top of that, Shraddha and Aditya’s chemistry and amazing songs made us excited for the film. Apart from this, the fact that this jodi had the audience spellbound with their act in Aashiqui 2, made people even more thrilled for their on screen reunion. They are coming together on the big screen after four year, so people would want to see them recreate the Aashiqui 2 magic once again. And then the fact that OK Jaanu is the remake of Tamil hit O Kadhal Kanmani will also benefit the movie.

One would expect that in its third week, Aamir Khan’s Dangal would be little competition to OK Jaanu. However, this is far from the case. Dangal is still raking in money by the crores (Rs 2.97 crore as of Thursday), which means the audience will still choose Aamir’s sports flick over the Shraddha and Aditya’s movie. Even so, OK Jaanu will have two relatively free weeks (not counting xXx’s release) to work its magic before Raees and Kaabil stomp all over it.

Two factors will, however, draw audiences to the theatres to watch this romantic drama. Firstly, audience who want to see the Aashiqui romance back on the big screen will help boost the film’s performance. Secondly, Shraddha, Aditya and Naseeruddin Shah have received praise for their respective performances and that will encourage the non-Aashiqui fans to give it a watch.
