After a decent opening, recent romantic drama managed to attain good pace over the weekend. Though this is a slow progress, fortunately it is steady as the film hasn’t crashed, something that could easily have happened since it isn’t the kind of commercial cinema that guarantees consistent footfalls after being accepted.
Directed by Shoojit Sircar, October stars Banita Sandhu and Varun Dhawan in lead roles. On the opening day, it recorded decent occupancy across the country and did the business of 5.04 crores. On Saturday due to a favorable word of mouth, Rising Sun Films’ presentation witnessed good jump and raked the business of 7.47 crores.
On Sunday, with further growth it minted the amount 7.74 crores. After the opening weekend, total collection of October was recorded as 20.25 crores which is decent enough. Now it is running in weekdays and asusual getting lesser footfalls in theaters than before.
On Monday, the film faced only 46.4% of drop than Friday and added the amount of 2.70 crore to it’s account. Then on Tuesday, it reported slight drop and collected 2.61 crores. On the next day i.e Wednesday, Varun-Banita starrer minted 2.43 crore with 7% of drop than previous day.
With this, total collection of October after 6 days of release has become 27.99 crores at domestic box office. It seems to collect around 30.20 crores in the first week. Nonetheless, the good news is that the Shoojit Sircar directed film is still moving towards a respectable total and would at least cross the 40 crores mark.
Presence of Varun Dhawan has ensured that there is some interest level that was retained amongst the audiences that is allowing some amount of moolah to be continuously churned. Though his star presence was the core reason for good expectations that one had from the film, it also means that the eventual lifetime number that would come in won’t really be in line with what he actually brings on the table.
