After making huge buzz with it’s promos, finally the highly anticipated October has been released this Friday at box office. As expected the film has received mostly positive reviews from the critics but being an offbeat flick, it opened on a slow note.
Directed by Shoojit Sircar, October is an unconventional romantic drama written by Juhi Chaturvedi, starring Varun Dhawan and Banita Sandhu in lead roles. Although October is getting mixed reviews from critics as well as audience, but due to high initial buzz and solid star power it started the journey on a decent note.
On the opening day, Shoojit Sircar’s directorial this romantic drama reported low occupancy of 20% in multiplexes while decent on single screens for morning shows. With the great excitement of fans, the movie has witnessed usual growth over the evening and night shows across the country.
As per the reports, October recorded overall occupancy of 25% on around 1683 screens in India and garnered the business of 5.04 crores nett. at domestic box office. With this, it has emerged as the fifth highest opener of the year so far in Hindi cinema and Tenth highest of Varun’s career.
However, with little to no competition for the next couple of weeks, October is expected to continue its run at the box office. But, strong word of mouth among the audience is certainly the need of the hour to help bolster the collections of the film.
