4 Days Total Collection of Noor
Sonakshi Sinha-starrer Noor based on the hit Pakistani novel, Karachi, You Are Killing Me!, found no takers at the box office in tis first three days which is the most crucial period for any film’s commercial fate. Directed by Sunhil Sippy, Sonakshi Sinha plays the titular character, Noor, a Mumbai-based broadcast journalist who wants to do ‘issue-based serious journalism’ like her idol ‘Barkha’. The film explores her troubled love life, her day-to-day experiences and her career in journalism.
Noor had an exceptionally low opening at the box office on Friday, the day it released. Combining the box-office figures of the first three days, here’s where Noor stands at the end of the opening weekend. It was expected to take atleast decent start but it opened up with only 10% of occupancy across the country from morning shows and did the business of 1.54 crore from around 1450 screens.
On Saturday due to weekend, it showed little growth and minted the amount of 1.89 crore. Then on the last day of weekend i.e. Sunday, Noor reported slight more rise and garnered the business of 2.09 crores. Now the movie has entered in weekdays and faced an abrupt decline in footfalls. On Monday, Noor witnessed around 50% of drop than Friday and minted 0.70 crores to make it’s 4 days domestic total as 6.22 crores. Noor is Sonakshi’s Sinha latest solo-vehicle after Akira which released last year.
Akira, an action film, did not have takers at the box office. Her next film, Force 2, co-starring John Abraham, fared modestly at the box office. Now, Noor does not even seem to be able to cross more than Rs 10 crore from box-office earnings in its lifetime. Post-Noor, Sonakshi Sinha will be seen in Ittefaq, a remake of the 1969 film of the same name. The film also stars Sidharth Malhotra, Akshaye Khanna and Rajkummar Rao in pivotal roles.
