First Day Collection of Sonakshi Sinha’s Noor
Sonakshi Sinha’s “Noor,” which opened to a rather muted note, managed to collect a decent amount at the Indian box office on its first day. The film witnessed only 10-15 percent occupancy in the morning shows which is very low, although the movie started to gradually pick up in the evening shows. Despite having released in 1450 screens, which is almost equal to the screen count of Akira,” “Noor” failed to draw the audience to the theatres.
Since, the film has not received favorable reviews, there are less chances for it to pick up at the evening and night shows. The other release Maatr featuring Raveena Tandon failed to register any occupancy in the morning shows. Noor is directed by Sunhil Sippy and it also stars Kannan Gill and Shibani Dandekar in lead roles. The film is based on Karachi You’re Killing Me written by Pakistani author Saba Imtiaz.
Multiplexes have contributed much to its opening business. On Friday, Sunhil Sippy’ directorial has managed to collect the amount of 1.54 crores with overall 20% of occupancy. Although it wasn’t a good start for “Noor,” the film is expected to witness a growth in its business over the weekend. Also, with no other big tickets releasing this week alongside “Noor,” it is expected to enjoy a good run for the first week.
Raveena Tandon’s Maatr also released this Friday after facing hurdles from the censor board. The film marks the comeback of Raveena who will be seen in a fierce, powerful role. Maatr deals with serious issues of rape and violence against women in society. The film failed to see any occupancy during morning shows, reported Koimoi. Directed by Ashtar Sayed, Maatr also stars Alisha Khan, Madhur Mittal, Divya Jagdale, Anurag Arora, Rushad Rana, Saleem Khan and Shalee Goel.
