Sanjay Dutt, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharad Kelkar and Sidhant Gupta starrer the action film Bhoomi opened on an average note and witnessed limited growth over the weekend. There is one external reason behind it’s below-expected performance, but it has also received mixed reviews from critics as well as audience.
Directed by Omung Kumar, Bhoomi was released on Friday with decent buzz. Despite good budget, star power and promotions, makers got failed to generate desired pre-release hype of the film. On the opening day, it recorded low occupancy and minted only 2.25 crores at domestic box office.
On Saturday despite being weekend, Bhoomi took little jump and raked the business of 2.47 crores. On the next day i.e. Sunday, it showed slight more growth and garnered the business of 2.76 crores. With this, total opening weekend collection of the film has become 7.48 crores at domestic box office.
On the other hand, Shraddha Kapoor and Siddhanth Kapoor starrer biographical crime drama Haseena Parkar received poor reviews from critics, so it witnessed low footfalls in theaters throughout the opening weekend. On Friday, it recorded 10% of occupancy and did the business of only 1.87 crore. With limited growth on Saturday, it raked the business of 2.60 crores.
On the last day of weekend i.e. Sunday, Apoorva Lakhia’s directorial showed more drop and collected 1.63 crores to make it’s opening weekend total 6.10 crores across the country. Last One, Amit V Masurkar’s directorial black comedy film Newton has received positive reviews from critics so it got succeed to entertain most of the audience.
On Friday, it recorded dull occupancy of 10-20% and minted 0.96 crores. On Saturday, Rajkummar Rao starrer recorded 162.50% jump and collected 2.52 crores. On the next day i.e. Sunday, it added the amount of 3.42 crores to it’s account and raised opening weekend domestic total to 6.90 crores.
