Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol (MVT) 6th Day Collection: Wednesday Business Report

6 Days Total Collection of Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol

Last week, we saw two Malayalam movies finally hit theatres after the Kerala cinema strike was called off. Both were family dramas, starring big Malayalam stars – Dulquer in Jomonte Suvisheshangal, Mohanlal in Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumabol. They released with a day’s gap between each other. Jomonte garnered praise for Mukesh-Dulquer’s father-son chemistry. It was effortless, and a delight to watch. Mohanlal‘s film was a entertaining family drama with great performances. So, both films had received positive reviews.

According to reports, Day one collections, Dulquer’s movie fared better as it raked in Rs 2.71 crore as opposed to Mohanlal’s collection at Rs 2.52 crore. In the following days, Mohanlal’s film caught up as it managed to collect at least Rs 2 crore each day. As for Dulquer’s film it collected Rs 1.65 crore, Rs 1.78, Rs 1.96 consecutively totalling it up to Rs 8.11 crore. But at the end of three days itself Mohanlal’s movie has managed to collect Rs 8.68 crore. As of now, Mohanlal’s movie is winning the box office game. However at the multiplexes, Dulquer’s film is leading as opposed to Mohanlal’s film.

On Monday, it witnessed more than 50% of drop as compare to Friday and raked the business of 1.26 crore. Then on the next day i.e. Tuesday, Mohanlal starrer declined further and managed to secure the amount of 0.82 crore. On Wednesday, MVT reported more drop in its occupancy and minted the amount of 0.70 crore*. After 6 days of release, total collection of the movie is recorded as 11.46 crores* on domestic box office. The box office race between the two is clearly a close one, as one catches up with the other.

Last month, quite a few Malayalam releases got stalled because of the ongoing conflict between exhibitors and producers. And now two other Malayalam releases will hit theatres in the first week of February. There’s Prithviraj’s horror film – Ezra releasing on Feb 9th and Jayasurya’s Fukri releasing a day after.
