MS Dhoni 3rd Day Collection: Total Earning in 1st Weekend at Domestic Box Office

3rd Day Total Collection of MS Dhoni

The latest numbers have arrived. And like Dhoni’s bat – spouting fours and sixes and sending the audience into a frenzy during a cricket match, MS Dhoni The Untold Story is also scoring big at the theatres. The lines between reel and real were never so blurred. Dhoni’s infectious match-winning attitude has translated on the screen as well. The film with released last Friday has become the second highest opener of 2016, after Salman Khan-starrer Sultan. It has so far collected Rs 41.90 crores in two days. With Saturday collection of Rs 20.60 crores (till afternoon).

Then on the last day of weekend, being Sunday MS Dhoni witnessed decent growth in its business than Saturday and added the amount of 24.10 crore to its account as third day collection. At the end of its opening weekend, total collection of the movie is recorded as 66 crore on domestic box office. Both Dhoni and Sushant shared a great camaraderie during the promotions of the film. They looked comfortable in each other’s company. Dhoni interacted with fans and gave an insight on how he helped Sushant in preparing for the role and guiding him to master his signature helicopter shot too.

On Sushant’s part, the actor shared how he tried to get into the mind of Dhoni. The bonding between the two has crept into the film too, and its success largely depends on Sushant’s ability to imitate Dhoni’s mannerisms. From twirling bat to gait, Sushant has given his best performance so far with this film. Brilliant performances by other actors including Anupam Kher and Rajesh Sharma have also added in creating a sense of the small town.

The film is a story of the dreams and ambitions of Dhoni and his struggle towards becoming the captain of the Indian cricket team, despite odd circumstances. It would not be wrong to say that Dhoni brought a certain confidence and spirit to Indian cricket under his captaincy. The film might become one of the highest grosser of this year. However, it is too early to predict the overall collection.
