3rd Wednesday Collection of MS Dhoni
Sushant Singh Rajput’s latest release MS Dhoni: The Untold Story has been breaking several box office records with its excellent collection. And now the movie has crossed the lifetime earnings of Akshay Kumar starrer Airlift. The movie on cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni had surpassed the lifetime domestic collection of Rustom on its 18th day at the box office and now the biopic has crossed the lifetime earning of Airlift as well. The biopic on the cricketer had collected Rs 127.12 crore nett at the domestic market by the end of Sunday.
The movie started the weekdays on a slower note, but good enough to break box office records of Rustom and Airlift. The combined collection of MS Dhoni: The Untold Story for the third Monday and Tuesday is Rs 1.5 crore (approx), which takes its 19 day Indian box office collection to Rs 128.62 crore (approx). Then on Wednesday, it recorded almost similar and added the amount of 0.52 crore* to its account. With this total 20 days collection of MS Dhoni: The Untold Story has become 129.14 crores* on domestic box office.
Including its overseas gross collection, the movie has already crossed the mark of 200 crores worldwide and emerged as the fastest plus second movie of Akshay’s career to enter in this club. On the other side, the lifetime collections of Airlift and Rustom are Rs 128.1 crore and Rs 127.49 crore. The movie on MS Dhoni has now become the second highest grossing Bollywood movie of 2016 after Salman Khan’s Sultan. Also, it is the most successful biopic in the history of Hindi films. The Sushant starrer has been running successfully ever since its release.
The film had received positive response from the critics and strong word-of-mouth helped it to dominate the box office. Not only in the domestic markets, it has put an impact at the overseas markets as well, becoming one of the highest worldwide grossers. MS Dhoni: The Untold Story is expected to carry on the winning box office streak for some more days as there is no major release this week.
