Box Office: Ninth Day Collection of Mohenjo Daro
After Bang Bang‘s debacle, everyone expected Hrithik Roshan to come back with a bang! However, that didn’t happen. His latest release – Mohenjo Daro was one of the most anticipated films of 2016, but it sadly couldn’t meet the audience’s expectations. Mohenjo Daro didn’t appeal to people in India, however looks like the International audience has liked the film. Over the first week, Hrithik Roshan’s film has collected Rs 24.13 crore (gross) at the overseas market.
Mohenjo Daro‘s clash with Akshay Kumar‘s Rustom has affected the film very adversely. The latter not only had a better buzz before its release, but post the release, Rustom was more loved by the audience and the critics. In the meanwhile, both the films will continue to have a good run at the box office as no big film has released this week. In weekdays, on Monday due to Independence Day Mohenjo Daro remained almost steady and raked 10.27 crores. Then from Tuesday it faced abrupt fall in its occupancy and minted 3.16 crores on Tuesday, 2.96 crores on Wednesday and 4.24 crores on Thursday (Raksha Bandhan).
On Friday, it witnessed slightly less than Thursday and minted the amount of 1.75 crore*. Then on the next day, being Saturday it received little higher and added 1.45 crore* to its account. After the 9th day, total domestic collection of this Ashutosh Gowariker’s directorial is recorded as 54.48 crore*. With this, its 8 days total domestic collection has become 52.92 crores* and surpassed the lifetime total of Ki & Ka (52.10 crores). From overseas market, it reported little better business of around 24 crores in the first week. Now the movie has entered in its second weekend and due to new release Happy Bhag Jayegi, facing little competition.
